This breed was started by the Reverend Jack Russell, one of the Anglican hunter-pastors. He was an avid fox hunter and needed an agile dog with a fighting character who would be able to keep pace with the pack and would not be afraid to track the animal underground.
His dogs did not have certain standards and did not participate in beauty contests, but they were especially popular with hunters and riders. In addition to hunting foxes, Jack Russell has proven to be an outstanding rodent exterminator. The most important feature of this breed is character, so particular individuals differ from one another in terms of external appearance. In the early 1980s, the breed appeared in Germany.
Two varieties of these dogs emerged, with a substantially similar pattern, except for some differences in height and overall proportions. The taller, square-shaped dog is known as the Parson Russell Terrier, while the smaller, slightly elongated dog is known as the Jack Russell Terrier.

He's a smart, alert, friendly family companion, always ready for action. It is a very active, daring, intelligent, clever, enterprising, independent and very brave dog (sometimes it can behave in a daring manner). Although he learns very quickly, he has a tendency to do things his own way. One should not be fooled by his mischievous looks. This clever and intelligent dog is very good at using it.
This breed loves to play with children. However, due to his lively temperament, you should be vigilant when playing with the youngest. They are caring dogs, always eager to play. It is an ideal breed for dog sports Agility or Frisbee, it will also be a great companion for morning jogging. Jack Russell terriers can be dominant and sometimes take advantage of it in the company of other dogs. Even properly educated individuals may have a tendency to chase after cats, because they have a hunting instinct. These dogs bark for a reason. Jack Russell is not a dog for comfortable or nervous people. It is the perfect partner for a person with a strong personality who will calmly and consistently raise him.
Jack Russell terrier does not require any special care. Regular brushing with a rubber brush and cleaning your dog's hair with a soft chamois cloth is enough. If you are showing your wirehaired pet at the exhibition, trim it two or three times a year.

The Jack Russel Terrier is not picky and usually has an excellent appetite, so don't let it gain too much weight. For an adult dog, we recommend a high-quality, medium-protein food designed for small breeds.
For home meals, you can add flaxseed, oatmeal, small amounts of vegetable oil or agents with biotin and unsaturated fatty acids to improve the condition of the skin and stimulate hair growth. If your pet is very active, it may eat food that is higher in protein and fat.
